On Tuesday, Years 7 and 8 visited the Stationers’ Company. This is located near the Cathedral. It is the 47th of 110 Livery companies in London. This company operates in the profession of printing and started around the time when William Caxton brought the printing press to England in the 15th century.
Year 8 were fortunate to be hosted by the Deputy Clerk of the Worshipful Company of Stationers, Giles Fagan, while Year 7 were given a tour by the Clerk William Alden. They were both extremely knowledgeable tour guides and entertained us with many interesting facts and stories about the history of the company and of London itself.
