The main task for the choristers of St Paul's Cathedral is to sing the daily office in the rich tradition of church music and choral singing.
Nevertheless, they also take part in many services of national importance, often attended by royalty and world leaders. They regularly represent the cathedral and the country on international tours, most recently to the USA, and continue to build their already substantial discography with recordings under the labels of Hyperion and Decca. They have recently produced a CD of Canticles and of Christmas Carols.
The choristers also perform in concerts on a regular basis and this includes performances of Handel’s Messiah and J.S. Bach’s St John or St Matthew Passion each year in the Cathedral. In recent years they have also appeared at the first night of the BBC Proms, at the Royal Festival Hall with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra and performed at the concert hall at Snape, Maltings. In December 2014 they appeared on BBC Breakfast assisting with the weather forecast!
