Sport

Sport is a very important feature of life at St Paul's. Achievement is recognised and applauded at school level, in House competitions and against other schools.

Our aim is to enable all our children to achieve their potential through physical activity, nurture confidence and instil the values of sportsmanship and fair play as well as the intrinsic desire to win. Maximum participation is encouraged and effort is praised at every level. Most importantly, we aim to give our children a real desire to take sport into the next part of their lives, whether recreationally or at a highly competitive level. We offer a range of sports and encourage a positive attitude towards sport and health-related fitness.

PE

PE is taught by specialist PE teachers throughout the school and includes athletics, dance, games and gymnastics in Pre-Prep. Outdoor adventurous activities are also developed through our residential visits' programme.

The Prep school play basketball, FUNdamentals, tag games and handball, and during the summer they do athletic, striking and fielding and alternative activities such as KIN ball, Tchoukball, Invisiball and Ultimate Frisbee.

Games & Fixtures

Each year group has a morning of specialist games coaching. All pupils play football, netball, hockey and cricket. Fixtures against other schools are played throughout the year and there are many opportunities for all children to represent the school in the following sports:  football, netball, hockey, cricket, tennis and tag rugby. Inter-house matches are played at various points during the year.

Parents are encouraged to support our teams where possible!

Facilities

St Paul's enjoys access to very good facilities. PE lessons are taught either in the school hall or the school playground. Games lessons are taught at Finsbury Leisure Centre, John Orwell Leisure Centre, Archbishop's Park and City Sport, all of which are in close proximity to the school.
