Catering

Good food and nutrition support physical and cognitive development. We know it is particularly important for our pupils to learn healthy attitudes to food at this age, making positive choices to support a lifelong healthy lifestyle.

We focus on ensuring that our pupils appreciate where food comes from and the impact their choices have on our planet. We educate them about food miles and the impact of food waste.

Mealtimes at SPCS are not just about fuel: we encourage a social atmosphere with an emphasis on good table manners and conversation. Food is served in ways that are fun and appealing, to tempt even the most reluctant eaters.
We listen carefully to pupil voice about food and we inspire children to be adventurous in their choices.

You can be confident that your child has had a balanced, filling and nutritious meal as part of the school day. As well as lunch, we provide a mid-morning snack and also afternoon snack for those attending after school clubs. We encourage children to bring a water bottle to school to stay hydrated throughout the day.

Chapter One

SPCS is proud to partner with Chapter One, who provide all our food, made freshly each day here on site. Chapter One are part of the Impact Group and have a great track record of providing excellent food and food culture in a select portfolio of independent schools. We selected Chapter One in a process involving pupils, parents, staff and Governors, finding them closely aligned with our aims and values.

Chapter One’s food philosophy is to develop great tasting, seasonal menus, using the best of British produce. Sourcing top quality ingredients from trusted suppliers, they devise menus that create excitement and reflect a wide range of tastes and ages so that children look forward to mealtimes. Attention to allergens and special diets is a key priority.

Chapter One have particular awareness of the importance of food for our Choristers, planning menus for their specific nutritional needs and providing a relaxed atmosphere for evening and weekend meals. For many Choristers, the Saturday morning full English breakfast sandwich is the culinary highlight of the week: others prefer the delicious roast lunch, served family-style between Sunday services.

We are always keen to hear from you about your child’s food needs: please contact the bursar with any queries or comments about school food on bursar@spcs.london.sch.uk
